There is a lot of research and support for relaxation therapies and how they can help balance and align our system. Common modalities such as massage therapy, energy healing and guided imagery are wonderful but take time. So, what do you do when you have only a minute or two?
Just Breathe ……
This is a modality that I like to use to help me decrease my stress and increase my focus.
This is the specific technique:
Breathe in through your nose to a count of 3 or 4. Hold
Then, breathe out through your mouth to the same count.
Keep your lips parted as you breathe in and out which relaxes your jaw and neck.
You also can add a reminder (a trigger) to this process by using a word you say to yourself OR a gesture like your thumb and finger together.
Practice this breath technique along with your trigger.
Then, if you find yourself getting stressed or anxious, use that trigger and begin your breathing. The more you practice, the quicker you can come back to a state of balance and relaxation.
