I have had the privilege to connect with a yoga instructor who would guide the group with yoga while I incorporated essential oils. I found it to be a rewarding experience. An overview is provided below:
Begin your exercise class with an oil that will refresh – often citrus oils will facilitate awakening and “get ready” to move.
Once you are in the middle of your program, consider an oil that will strengthen or encourage. We did this in our yoga class during challenging poses. Essential oils to consider include basil, rosemary or peppermint. Interesting, people noticed greater balance and stamina after inhaling the essential oil.
As you move into a cool down phase of your program, try a calming oil such as lavender or orange. May wish to place the oil on the back of the hands so that you act as a self diffuser during stretching. For meditation, I like to use frankincense essential oil and have the person anoint and/or bless themself and their experience.
Exercise has many benefits including prevention of illness and health maintenance.
Exercise along with diet, stress management and supplements (including essential oils) are elements of a balanced health plan.
